AP Art History | Article 1

In AP Art History class, we learned 17th-century Baroque art. Still-life artworks were very popular among Dutch middle-class families. Vanitas is a genre of still life painting, showing the transience of life, the futility of pleasure, and the certainty of death. After learning the familiar symbols of the vanitas paintings, students were asked to create their own vanitas artworks based on their understanding of this genre.
